Victims of HIV will find themselves under a great deal of stress and be extremely traumatised to find out they are infected with the disease. It is for this reason that a number of HIV support groups have been created, to help people deal with such a heavy burden. There are a number of HIV support groups and charities in areas of the world that are significantly affected by HIV. Africa in particularly has a well publicised AIDS problem and there are many HIV support groups and charities working there to help people who are struggling to cope with the burden of HIV.
Many HIV support groups rely entirely on public funding and they will often hold fundraising events to help raise awareness of HIV and their work. HIV support charities are popular with many people, who make significant donations to help combat the illness.
People who donate to HIV support charities will often wear a red ribbon on their lapel as a symbol of their support. Many HIV support groups incorporate this red ribbon into their logos and iconography and it has become an extremely recognisable symbol across the world.
AIDS has now reached pandemic proportions since it was first recognised in the eighties, and most of the cases are recorded in Africa. Due to the extremely widespread nature of the disease more and more people are backing HIV support groups, many of which invest their funds into researching treatments for the disease.
